The purpose of the Society is to bring together all persons who share a common interest in Italian culture. The Society is a non-profit organization that sponsors programs related to various aspects of Italian culture including: the Italian language, visual and performing arts, films, travel, history and social events such as luncheons, dinners and wine tastings.

I wanted to give the readers of this web site more about our society. The purpose of the society is to bring together persons who share a common interest in Italian Culture and wish to participate in and enrich their appreciation of Italian Culture. Over the past ten years, the society has sponsored more than 100 programs covering six themes that are the core or the Italian culture.

  1. VISUAL ARTS,
  2. PERFORMING ARTS,
  3. HISTORY AND LITERATURE,
  4. REGIONS OF ITALY THEIR BUSINESSES AND LIFESTYLE,
  5. LANGUAGE SPEAKING, WRITING, TEACHING AND CONVERSATION,
  6. FOOD AND WINE.

This year we have planned over 30 programs. I encourage you to look over our calendar of events in our AMICI newletter and come visit one of our events.

In addition to our programs we maintain a small library of books, Italian and English, as well as movies that can be loaned.

Sun. Mar. 16: Puccini's La rondine, Sarasota Opera House, followed by dinner.

Tues. Mar. 18: Film "His Mother's Smile" (Il sorriso di mia madre), Norris Center, 7:00PM.

Weds. Mar 26: ICS Annual Meeting, Norris Center. 7:00PM.

Tue. Apr. 1: Film, "New World" (Nuovo mondo). Norris Center, 7:00PM.
