I was born an educated in Palermo Sicilia. I came to America with my family at age 20. I was an art student at the Istituto di belle Arti and studied under Professore Vincenzo Udine. Recently went back to Sicilia to paint on location. Visited small islands off the Sicilian coast and produced 6 new paintings on location. A great experience I had planned for years.

Several years ago I found relatives in Italy and I have been studying Italian since then in order to speak with them. I am looking for someone to meet with once or twice a week to speak Italian. For the past several years I have been studying Italian with teachers in Naples and Chicago and now I would like to concentrate on my language skills. Please let me know if anyone wants to participate.

Growing Up Italian

In Buffalo, where I grew up, we had an Italian radio station from Toronto which had a disc jockey named Pasquale C.O.D.

Married young to an aristocrat whose mother was Princess Odescalchi-Pallavicini, (father Baron G de Barcza, Hungarian) brought me to Italy many times over the years. Finding ICS in Naples has anchored me to wonderful memories! Every event is exciting, all members are welcoming, the new reservation/exchange system is fool proof and programs are terrific. Thank you members for making it so special!

Paula and I have spent months and months in Italy, all over the country. I spent 12 summers teaching in Rome and one semester teaching in Trento. If you need travel advice, feel free to contact us. Richard

Fred and I have spent many years traveling throughout Italy, but most of our time over the last several years has been spent in the little hill town of Panzano, in the Chianti hills of Tuscany. Nothing quite like the little apes buzzing through the grape vines during vendemmia in October, or the brilliant poppies in spring which Fred loves to paint. Sensory overload! Viva Italia!

We have been to beautiful Italy several times, but always on organized tours. Because we love Italy, and since I have been studying Italian for two years, we would like to spend a month there this summer, possibly in September. We do not want to rent a car, but are thinking of renting an apartment in Florence. We would love advice from some of you seasoned Italy travelers.
Thank you,
Ronald Ferreri
Pat and I recommend Orvieto as a home base for visiting Italy. Located conveniently between Rome and Florence on a train line, it offers fascinating history, wonderful restaurants interesting history. The train is approximately ninety minutes to either Rome or Florence.
